ABOUT THE PRACTICE
Henriëlle van den Dragt’s practice explores what materials might become beyond their familiar forms and functions. Working with wood at fibre level, she develops her own sculptural materials through an ongoing process of experimentation and discovery. Her sculptures imagine new ways in which material might organise itself, somewhere between the organic and the constructed.
ABOUT HENRIËLLE
Henriëlle van den Dragt (1991) is a Dutch visual artist based in Arnhem, with a studio in Nijmegen. Born and raised near the forests of the Veluwe, she developed an early fascination with the diversity of nature and its ability to transform and adapt.
After a career in the corporate sector, she began developing her artistic practice independently in 2021. Her first works were made with reclaimed timber, but a growing curiosity about the material itself gradually led her to explore wood beyond its familiar appearance and uses. What began as a series of experiments developed into a more focused investigation, which continues to shape her practice today.
Her earlier work has been presented at exhibitions and art fairs in the Netherlands and Belgium and featured in Dutch national media.
